Local Dogs

DAY 12: I am not sure what breed of Dog these are, but they are everywhere. Living on the streets and skinny (you can guess why), they are golden in colour, and have very short hair. When one of them starts howling, all of the other ones (and there are lots) repeat their call, and it is somewhat eery. Last week while I was walking back to my place, a couple of them started running towards me and got me a little concerned. The next day I asked the driver about them, and he said they are harmless as they are the “local Dogs”. According to my coworker, these dogs just live on the streets and for the most part don’t bother anyone. Apparently there is a charitable foundation whose workers neuter and vaccinate them, and the locals feed them whatever they can. I just find it a little odd that they are usually found lying around right in the middle of various places (as depicted above, near the entrance of a mall). By the way, there are cats here who do the same sort of thing: live on the street and lye around in the middle of wherever they feel like. Takes me back to the days of growing up in Tehran and brings out the same feelings…
