Big Mac-onomics

I came across an article about the Big Mac Index a few years ago. Since its inception, the BMI has inspired various related studies as well. So when I travel, I make a point of checking out the local McDonald’s offerings and verify the study myself :) Except in India, where there is no Big Mac. Yes, it was true that McDonald’s in India does not sell beef products. But instead, they offer a very creative (and almost tastier?) alternative: the Chicken Maharaja Mac for only $1.78. Add to that an order of medium fries for $1 and you got yourself a meal; well almost, since I did not purchase a soft drink to make it a so called “meal”. Tasty? Definitely. Cheap? Not the fries. Oh, and the bottom bun was assembled upside down and fell apart instantly upon first contact!
